Bangladesh's coach Chandika Hathurusinghe aims for his team to leverage their batting and bowling strengths in their Thursday night clash against Australia in the Super Eights.

The South Asian side meets the 50-over World Cup winners at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, to kick off their Super Eights journey.

“The pitches have been tricky and tough to read, so our strategy is to start strong whether we bat or bowl,” stated Hathurusinghe in his pre-match comments on Wednesday.

“We’re delighted to be in the Super Eights, and anything beyond this is a plus, so we’ll play freely.”

The Sri Lankan coach mentioned that his team would try to maximize the conditions to their benefit.

“It all comes down to the conditions and a bit on the opposition. We'll take their weaknesses into account and play to our strengths.”

Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh played down the specifics of the team’s composition but mentioned he is ready to bowl if needed.

Marsh has yet to bowl in the tournament.

“In this format, having bowling options is crucial, and we are fortunate with plenty,” Marsh said on Wednesday.

Marsh feels privileged to lead a team filled with experienced players and intends to use this to tackle a challenging opponent.

After a poor fielding performance in their last group match against Scotland, Marsh said the team has moved past that “off night.”

“This group thrives in critical moments, so I have full trust in them.”

Pitch Condition and Toss

The Antigua venue has seen some of the highest-scoring matches, with bowlers often punished for any errors in line.

The toss has not significantly influenced the outcomes at this venue, with captains splitting their choices between batting first and fielding first.

Weather Forecast

The weather is expected to be overcast in the evening, with some chance of rain showers during match hours.
