Iran’s Supreme Leader pledges harsh repercussions for Israel in response to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh's killing, declaring three days of national mourning.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed to take severe actions against Israel following the assassination of Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our house and made us bereaved,” Khamenei expressed, stating that it has set the stage for its own severe retribution.
Khamenei emphasized that avenging Haniyeh’s assassination is an obligation for Iran, noting that the incident occurred in Iranian territory.
Iran has declared three days of national mourning for Haniyeh, with a funeral service planned in Iran and subsequent burial in Doha, Qatar.
Despite no official comment from Israel on the incident, previous threats against Haniyeh and other Hamas leaders have been reported in connection to recent events in the region.
The attack has sparked concerns about potential Iranian retaliation against Israel, prompting discussions on the broader implications for the region.
In a separate statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps condemned the attack as a violation of international norms and pledged a robust response.
The escalating tensions between Iran and Israel have raised fears of further hostilities, with past incidents underscoring the volatile nature of their relationship.
