The Princess of Wales shares updates on her health and her ongoing preventive chemotherapy.
UK royal Kate Middleton has made her first appearance in public since she announced in March that she is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.
The Princess of Wales made an appearance at the annual "Trooping the Colour" parade on Saturday in central London, which celebrates King Charles's birthday.
The Princess, dressed in white, was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony and also participated in the parade with her children – Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte – in a carriage.
In a statement on Friday, Kate mentioned she is making "good progress" but acknowledged the ups and downs of chemotherapy, saying there are both good and bad days.
She added, "On the bad days, you feel weak and tired, and must let your body rest. But on the good days, you want to take advantage of feeling well." She emphasized that her battle is not over yet.
The last time Kate was seen in public was in December when she attended an annual Christmas Day church service with other senior royals.
Speculation about her absence from public events grew over three months until Kate revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer after abdominal surgery and was undergoing preventive chemotherapy.
The details regarding the type of cancer and the specifics of her treatment have not been disclosed by Kensington Palace.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Al Jazeera that Kate's public appearance is "highly significant," representing the future of the monarchy along with her children.
King Charles, also present at the parade, is similarly dealing with his own cancer diagnosis, Fitzwilliams noted. Despite his illness, King Charles has been active in numerous public engagements.
Saturday's event was a positive moment for the royal family, which has faced several challenges recently, including the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and family tensions following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's resignation from their royal duties in 2020.
