Israeli forces retaliate against Hamas, causing the deaths of 24 Palestinians in multiple strikes while Hamas blames the Biden administration for the ongoing conflict.
An airstrike conducted by Israel has resulted in the death of 10 members of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh’s family in the Shati refugee camp of Gaza. Hamas accuses the US President Joe Biden's administration of perpetuating an ongoing war of "extermination" against the Palestinians in Gaza. The strike targeted the Haniyeh family home in Shati, with 10 fatalities reported, including the sister of Ismail Haniyeh, Zahr Haniyeh. Multiple bodies are believed to be still trapped under the rubble. Furthermore, several individuals were wounded in the assault.
The civil defense teams transferred the deceased to a local hospital, confirming the casualties and injuries. Hamas has urged the international community to intervene and hold the Israeli leadership accountable for their actions. Meanwhile, the Israeli military claims to have targeted two buildings in Shati and Daraj Tuffah, alleging that individuals involved in a previous attack on Israel were taking refuge in these locations. However, the military did not specify that the attack on the Haniyeh family home was intentional.
In a separate incident in April, an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza resulted in the deaths of three sons and four grandchildren of Haniyeh, citing "terrorist activities" as the reason. The conflict has led to the loss of numerous lives, including Haniyeh's family members and civilians in the region. Despite calls for a ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue the conflict until certain conditions are met. Hamas continues to resist against Israeli aggression, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive and just resolution to the conflict.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical, with escalating violence and limited access to essential resources. UN agencies and humanitarian organizations have raised concerns about the deteriorating conditions in the region, urging for immediate actions to address the crisis. The continuous targeting of civilian areas and displacement camps has added to the plight of the Palestinian people, necessitating urgent international intervention to protect innocent lives and uphold human rights.
