Israeli military operations intensify in Shujayea neighborhood in Gaza City as the death toll continues to climb, displacing thousands of Palestinian residents.
The Israeli military has stated its troops are intensifying operations in the Shujayea neighborhood east of Gaza City, engaging in combat both above and below ground.
In an update on Saturday, the military reported having eradicated a significant number of militants over the past day and uncovered a weapons storage facility within a school compound.
It also conducted airstrikes on terrorist targets and armed cells, including foiling an attempt by a terrorist cell to attack troops.
Earlier, the military instructed residents of Shujayea and nearby areas to relocate southwards along Salah al-Din Street.
Al Jazeera correspondent Hind Khoudary reported from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza that Israeli forces targeted Palestinians attempting to fetch water at a distribution point, resulting in casualties, including a child.
According to the United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric, the recent Israeli offensive in Shujayea has led to the displacement of at least 60,000 residents, with many forced to evacuate amid the escalating conflict.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued its intelligence operations in Rafah and central Gaza, claiming to have neutralized multiple militants and struck several anti-tank missile posts.
Incidents of projectile fire from Gaza into Sderot were reported, with the Aerial Defense Array intercepting one and the other falling in an open area.
Dujarric mentioned a military operation in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, causing casualties and displacing thousands of individuals.
Israeli airstrikes near al-Istiqama Mosque in the al-Jnaina neighborhood and firing in the vicinity of al-Alam roundabout led to further casualties and injuries.
Gaza's Ministry of Health updated the death toll, reporting thousands killed and wounded in the conflict, including recent casualties from the ongoing violence.
