Hezbollah Leader Nasrallah Warns Israel of Comprehensive War

Hassan Nasrallah indicates the possible invasion of northern Israel if Lebanon faces significant conflict, emphasizing serious threats toward Israel and Cyprus.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has issued a strong warning against Israel, threatening a conflict with "no restraint or rules" if Lebanon faces a major Israeli assault.

Nasrallah's statements on Wednesday come as tensions have escalated at the Lebanon-Israel border, with Israeli officials affirming their readiness for a full-scale war against Hezbollah.

"None of the enemy's threats or the warnings brought by mediators and what’s stated in the Israeli media regarding a war in Lebanon intimidates us," Nasrallah stated through a video address.

He added that Israel is the one who should feel "scared."

On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz suggested the likelihood of a significant conflict with Hezbollah after the group released surveillance drone footage showing key infrastructure and military sites in northern Israel.

"We are nearing the point of deciding to change the rules against Hezbollah and Lebanon. In a full-scale war, Hezbollah will be annihilated and Lebanon severely impacted," Katz wrote in a social media post.

"Israel will face a price on both the front and home fronts, but with a unified nation and the complete might of the [Israeli military], we'll reclaim security for the northern residents."

On Wednesday, Nasrallah highlighted Hezbollah’s military strength, stating the group has procured new weapons and possesses a considerable number of domestically produced drones.

"The enemy is well aware that we are prepared for the toughest days," he noted. "They know what’s awaiting them, which has acted as a deterrent. They realize no area in their country will be spared from our rockets and drones, and each rocket will have a specific target, avoiding indiscriminate bombing."

Nasrallah also hinted that Hezbollah might deploy ground forces into Israeli territory.

"The enemy fears the resistance might invade northern Israel, and this remains a viable possibility in the context of any war imposed on Lebanon," he expressed.

The Iran-supported Lebanese group initiated attacks on military bases in northern Israel following the start of the Gaza war on October 7, describing it as a "support front" for Palestinian armed groups.

Nasrallah emphasized the Lebanese front's significant role in stretching Israeli military resources away from Gaza.

Threat to Cyprus

Nasrallah also warned Cyprus, a European Union member situated in the eastern Mediterranean west of Lebanese and Israeli shores.

He claimed that Israel is conducting military exercises in Cyprus on terrains akin to southern Lebanon.

Nasrallah mentioned Israel's plans to use Cypriot airports and bases for military purposes if Israeli infrastructure gets attacked during a major war.

"Allowing Cypriot airports and bases to be used by Israel against Lebanon implies that the Cypriot government has joined the war, and we will treat it as part of the conflict," he warned without further details.

Nasrallah also cautioned that Hezbollah might open a naval front against Israel in the Mediterranean.

He affirmed that Hezbollah will persist with its attacks on Israeli targets and proposed that the solution to the crisis is clear: ending Israel's war on Gaza.

More than 37,000 people have died in the Israeli assault on Gaza since October, according to Palestinian health officials.

Israel began the war on October 7 after Hamas, the Gaza-governing Palestinian group, initiated an attack on southern Israel, killing at least 1,139 individuals as per an Al Jazeera tally based on Israeli data, and capturing around 250 individuals.

Nasrallah defended Hamas for presenting its own demands in a United States-led proposal aimed at achieving a "lasting ceasefire".

He indicated a clear loophole in the US plan that would let Israel resume attacks after implementing the first stage of the proposal, which involves the release of some Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
